Physician Legal Associates is a physician founded and owned medical legal consulting business. Our board certified physicians have extensive experience in cases involving injuries, medical malpractice, insurers, and workers’ compensation. We deliver high quality work products that are carefully researched and supported.
Our team has unique experience which allows us to bring valuable insight to medical issues in legal cases. Our physicians have treated athletes at all levels of competition including professional and Division I.
We specifically focus on pretrial/preligitation medical legal consulting to maximize value for our clients, as 80%+ of cases are settled. We also provide expert witness referral. We partner with attorneys across the U.S.

Anthony V. Maddalo, MD
Dr. Anthony V. Maddalo is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. After earning his medical degree from New York Medical College, Dr. Maddalo completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He completed a residency in pediatric orthopedics at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Maddalo served as assistant team physician for the New York Rangers hockey team from 1986 until 2014. He further served as sports resident for the New York Jets as well as team physician for Manhattan College, the College of Mount Saint Vincent, and the College of New Rochelle.
Brandon Schwartz, MD
Dr. Brandon Schwartz is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician. He currently practices interventional pain management at Pohlman Pain Associates in Boca Raton, Florida. He further serves as Medical Director at Arbicare, a worker’s compensation and utilization management services company.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. After earning his medical degree from Florida International University in Miami, Dr. Schwartz completed a pain management fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Schwartz is a South Florida native and avid scuba diver.
Scott Maddalo, MD
Dr. Scott Maddalo is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician. He currently practices pain management at All of Pain in New York City. Dr. Maddalo was formerly Medical Director of the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF), New York’s largest workers’ compensation insurer.
Dr. Maddalo obtained his MD and MS in Clinical Translational Sciences from New York University. He completed his anesthesiology residency and pain management fellowship at NYU Langone. Dr. Maddalo has extensive experience caring for athletes and injured workers with a particular focus on interventional techniques treating joints and spinal injuries. Dr. Maddalo is a big fan of hockey.
Annie Song, MBA
Annie serves as Vice President of Business Development and Operations at Physician Legal Associates. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and her MBA from Columbia Business School in New York City.
Prior to founding Physician Legal Associates, Annie has over ten years of strategy and consulting experience at startups and Fortune 500 companies. She has delivered product and brand strategy for companies such as Walmart, J&J, and Eli Lilly. Annie enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and energetic German Shepherd mix.
Annie Song, MBA
Annie serves as Vice President of Business Development and Operations. She oversees all facets of the company’s marketing and operations. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her MBA from Columbia Business School in New York City.
Prior to founding Physician Legal Associates, Annie has over ten years of strategy and consulting experience at both startups and the Fortune 500. She is an innovation leader who has delivered product and brand strategy for companies such as Walmart, J&J, and Eli Lilly.
